Cox Charities Opens its 2025 Community Grants Application Period in California

Cox Charities, the employee-funded philanthropic arm of Cox Communications, is once again opening the doors for community-focused nonprofits within its California service areas with the launch of its 2025 Community Grants. The application period runs through June 30, 2025.

Grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofits in Orange County and Palos Verdes whose programs align with Cox Charities’ key focus areas:

  • Conservation and Sustainability— Championing positive environmental change in our community and beyond.
  • K-12 STEM Education— Opportunities for students beyond the classroom.
  • Military and Veterans Services—Programs enriching the lives of military personnel and veterans.

Since its founding in 1996, Cox Charities has allocated more than $25 million to our local communities through grants to nonprofit organizations, scholarships, and support for initiatives that enhance the quality of life within our service areas. Funded entirely by the generous contributions of Cox employees, 100% of every dollar is directly reinvested into the communities we serve.

“At Cox, our commitment to the community is about empowering organizations working on a local level to make a measurable difference in the lives of community members,” said Colleen Dillaway, Orange County market vice president. “The organizations we support through Cox Charities are making a huge impact in the lives of regular people, especially in underserved areas of our region, creating positive change, and enhancing the quality of life for all.”

Orange County and Palos Verdes employees play a vital role in the grantmaking process, from funding the grants with their generous donations to recommending and selecting recipients.

In 2024, Cox Charities awarded $60,000 in grants to 11 Orange County nonprofits including the Shea Therapeutic Riding Center, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, and Working Wardrobes.
