Cox Communications Donates 300 Computers to CUSD

Date:

Cox Communications has donated 300 computers to Capistrano Unified School District (CUSD) to enable low-income families to connect with educators and resources during the current emergency distance learning state. Cox utilized nonprofit Computers2Kids, San Diego, to deliver these devices to the South Orange County school district.

“We are grateful for this generous donation and our continued partnership with Cox Communications,” said CUSD Superintendent Kirsten Vital. “During these challenging times, our families are balancing health and safety while learning from home, and these laptops will provide support for our young people who need it most.”

“Computers2Kids does a tremendous job getting low-income households connected, and they’ve been a critical part of our Connect2Comptete program, which is bridging the digital divide by bringing computers and internet access to K-12 students that don’t have technology at home,” said Sam Attisha, Senior Vice President and Region Manager for Cox Communications. “We want all students to be ready for school to start again and this donation will help ensure all students are connected.”

Cox piloted the now national Connect2Compete program in San Diego in 2012 with local schools and organizations. Connect2Compete includes in-home wifi, free installation and access to the online Cox Digital Academy.

As back-to-school fast approaches, Cox has announced new customers that qualify will receive Connect2Compete, the company’s low-cost internet, for two months at no cost.  New customers must sign up between July 21 and September 30 for free service, which also includes free technical support.
