STUDENT DIRECTORY ART CONTEST
Crown Valley students have the opportunity to design the art work to be showcased in the PTA student directory. The theme is “Planting the Seeds for Success” and should encompass the character pillars of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Ten entries will be chosen to decorate the covers: 1st place. . . front cover, 2nd place . . . back cover, 8 honorable mentions. . . inside covers front & back.
Rules:
• Entries must be on 8 1/2 X 11 white paper
• Artwork must be horizontal (landscape) on the page
• Black marker, pen or pen
• Use the theme “Planting the Seeds for Success” and character traits
• Must contain the wording “Crown Valley Student Art Directory 2010-2011” and “Planting the Seeds for Success”
• Write name, grade and teacher on back of artwork.
Entries are due to your teacher by Friday, November 5
REFLECTIONS ART EVENING
Crown Valley families and community members are invited to attend the Reflections Art Evening Wednesday, November 17, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The event will be held at CUSD district offices. This is a drop-in event to showcase students’ entries judged at the PTA Council Level. CUSD offices are located at 33122 Valle Rd., San Juan Capistrano.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Crown Valley just submitted our first collection of box tops and we a re thrilled to announce that we earned $265! Our goal for the 2010-2011 school year is $1000, so keep collecting. Congratulations to Ms. Hemenway and Ms. Mackey’s class for submitting the most Box Tops (442) for the month of October. They will be the first class to receive the Traveling Trophy! Our next submission deadline is March 1st. Please attach your Box Tops onto the collection sheets with glue or tape-please no staples or ziplocks. SCREAMIN DAILY DEALS
Crown Valley is now earning proceeds from the program Screamin Daily Deals. This program offers discounts or deals daily from businesses in our community to anyone who is interested in becoming a subscriber through their website. Screamin Daily Deals donates 5-10% from each deal purchased to Crown Valley. To become a subscriber go to http://www.screamindailydeals.com and choose Crown Valley Elementary to receive the proceeds.
BOOK FAIR AT CVES
Crown Valley’s PTA will holding the Book Fair November 15-19. CVES will be hosting a Family Night on Wednesday, November 17 and “lunch with a loved one” on Friday, November 19. The Book Fair will be held in room A3 this year. More information to follow.

Innisbrook fundraiser orders will be going home with kids on Friday…if chocolate was ordered, make sure not to leave in hot cars.
Cupcake Friday is this week . . . help support our school while enjoying a sweet treat.
School Beautification Day is this Saturday, November 6th…come join us for this great event! We will be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs for the hungry workers as well as providing snacks and beverages. Projects planned for the day:
-rebuilding the garden fence and arbors
– pruning roses and trimming shrubs
– cleaning out planters and spreading mulch
– planting flowers
Book Drive- Start sorting through all those extra books you’d like to get rid of…the Book Drive is Nov 15-18. This year we will be supporting an extra special cause. The books we don’t need for our library will be donated for a book sale to help raise money for an Aliso Viejo Middle School student who is battling a rare form of bone cancer. Please help…
