RED RIBBON WEEK
Crown Valley students were treated to a demonstration today by the Orange County Sheriff’s narcotics detection and evidence location unit. . . the drug sniffing dog. Noa and her handler, Deputy Hodges, demonstrated training techniques and dog handling methods. Noa also showed students how she hunts down clothing tossed by a fleeing suspect. Deputies Schuler and Davidson also visited CVES today and discussed making healthy choices. Thank you Deputies Schuler, Davidson, Hodges and Noa for your support of Crown Valley students and helping everyone make good choices.

PARKING AT CVES
Please remember, the parking lots at Crown Valley Elementary are designated staff only, including the upper lot. Crown Valley has almost 100 CUSD employees utilizing the parking lots on a daily basis. Additionally, the staff only parking policy supports student safety. A number of special education busses drop off and pick up students through out the day; parents parking at the red curb adds to the congestion.

GREAT CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT
Each month, Crown Valley Elementary conducts emergency preparedness drills; fire evacuation, stranger on campus, and/or earthquake preparedness. Crown Valley will be participating in the Great California ShakeOut which is scheduled for Thursday, October 21, at about 10:25AM. The ShakeOut has been created to help people and organizations get better prepared for major earthquakes. Staff members and students will be doing a Duck, Cover, and Hold drill, then will evacuate their classrooms for a simulated earthquake event (weather permitting). You can find out more about the Great California ShakeOut at http://www.shakeout.org/
