HELP WANTED: Senior Parents (and Junior & Sophomore parents, too), we need your help to make this year’s Grad Nite a super success! Our major fundraising event, Taste of Dana, is coming up in March and there are many volunteers needed. Check out the www.dhgradnite.com web site to get on our e-mail list and get more information, or sign up for a specific volunteer position. Also, plan to attend our committee meeting Thursday night, December16 at 7:00pm in the DH library.

LAST CHANCE to buy Dana Hills Christmas ornaments! The Dana Hills Grad Nite committee will be selling the Dana Hills ornaments after school on Thursday, December16 in the front of the school for $9 each. Also, you can have your ornaments personalized for a $1! Quantities are limited so don’t miss out!

SENIORS…..Have you signed up for Grad Nite yet? We want every senior to go. So far we have 300 seniors signed up! Get your name on the list! Go to www.dhgradnite.com and print off the form. We are keeping the price at $170 for now if you pay in full. If the payment option is better for you, print off the payment options form and fill it out. REMINDER: California Highway Patrol START SMART Program this Thursday!

This is a wonderful program you might want to attend with your student.
DID YOU KNOW?
Teen drivers are found at fault in 66% of ALL FATAL collisions that they are involved in, although they only represent 4% of the state’s licensed drivers.
The leading cause of DEATH for Americans 15 – 20 years old is motor vehicle collisions.
65% of teen passenger deaths occur when another teenager is driving.

WHAT IS THE START SMART PROGRAM?
The California Highway Patrol’s Start Smart program is a free driver safety education class which targets new and future licensed teenage drivers between the ages of 15 – 20 and their parents/guardians. CHP officers discuss traffic collision avoidance techniques, collision causing factors, driver/parent responsibilities, and seatbelt usage.

Plastic Bottles and Aluminum Cans Community Recycling Drive This Saturday, December 18th

Please bring your plastic bottles and cans to DHHS on Saturday, December 18th, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. and help raise funds for our school. Please spread the word to family, friends and neighbors! Location: DHHS back parking lot near the tennis courts and pool.

An award-winning program presented by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Parent Project® provides proven strategies for raising today’s adolescents. Topics include defiant behavior, accountability and consequences, parental influence vs. control, poor school performance, truancy, negative peer associations, drugs, alcohol, running away and violence.

January 20-March 24, 2011 (Thursdays) Time: 6:30 – 9:30 pm (First 6 weeks) 6:30- 8:30 pm (Last 4 weeks)
Location: San Clemente High School Library, 700 Avenida Pico
Fee: $60 (couple or single parent) includes 10 classes and parent guide. Scholarships are available.
