Dear Parents,
Thanks to all of you who attended Back to School Night. It was a great success for all. For those of you who were unable to make it, Edline is your best link to your child’s classroom information. Please call the office if you have not yet obtained your activation code for Edline.
MAGAZINE DRIVE
Thanks to all of our students and families for supporting DJAMS. We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s hard work. We’ve met our goal of $100,000 and are still counting!!!! A special thanks goes to our wonderful ASB students, our incredible Activities Director Kirschel Vollebregt, and our dedicated parent volunteers. Our students had a great time with all of the events that coincided with the sale. Our net profits this year will enable us to support academic competitions, fund lunchtime sports, increase technology, provide our students with fun activities, host exciting dances, and enhance our rewards program for students.
HOMEWORK CLUB
We are happy to announce that DJAMS will again be offering Homework Club beginning Monday, September 27, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Any students who arrive on campus before 8:15 a.m. must report to Homework Club. The only exception will be for our zero period P.E. students who arrive at 7:38 a.m. There will be a flyer posted in classrooms giving the location and teacher for each day. Please remember that on Thursday there will not be Homework Club and students may not enter campus until 9:30 a.m.
Listed below are the following teachers and locations for Homework Club:
Monday: Mrs. Cox, Room 705
Tuesday: Mrs. Arsala, Room 902
Wednesday: Mr. Waterman, Room 806
Friday: Ms. Arambula, Room 707

DJAMS TURKEY TROT
The Turkey Trot is just around the corner. This year’s off-campus run will be held on Thursday, November 18. If you or your place of business would be interested in making a merchandise or cash donation to this fundraiser, please contact Mr. Binley at: jjbinley@capousd.org or at 949-362-0348.
PARENTS OF ENGLISH LEARNERS
Our district is required by California State Law to form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) in each school to serve our English Learners.
This committee, comprised of parents, would meet approximately four times a year to discuss the needs of English Learners at our school. Committee members would propose solutions, which would then be taken to the meetings at the District level (DELAC). In this way we can better serve students by having knowledge of their particular needs.
We would like you to consider serving on this committee. If you are interested, please contact Peter Neeve: pjneeve@capousd.org. Thank you for taking the time to support your child and our school.

DJAMS SERVICE AWARD BRONCO PRIDE
Many students have shown interest in DJAMS community service program, Bronco Pride. The awards will recognize both academic accomplishments as well as school and community service efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for your son’s and daughter’s achievements to be recognized. We would hope that all parents encourage their sons/daughters to get involved in the “Bronco Pride” awards. Students are getting involved at school and community by adopting a planter, helping in the library, assisting teachers, and tutoring. If you have any questions or comments about the awards please contact Mrs.Balogh.
Animal Lovers Who Need Bronco Pride Service Hours: If you have a love for animals, volunteering at the Orange County Pet Adoption Center might be for you. Junior volunteers will have real responsibility for the well-being of animals and day-to-day operations. Students can earn Bronco Pride community service credit for their hours, while helping with the following activities: Dog Walking, House-Training, Supervising Play Groups, Laundry and Cleaning, Planning our Grand Opening, In-Store Events, Media Events. If you’re interested, please email Michelle Balogh at mmbalogh@capousd.org for more information.
DJAMS JOINS MyCokeRewards FOR SCHOOLS
Here’s an easy way for our school to get rewarded with MyCokeRewards for Schools. Your donations will go towards educational resources that help our students learn, play and have fun. As you enjoy your favorite Coca Cola beverages, don’t forget about the codes. If you have a MyCokeRewards account, enter the codes online to get points and donate them to our school. If you don’t already have an account, it’s easy to set one up. If you don’t want to bother with an account, but still want to help our school, you can bring the codes from specially marked packages or bottles of Coca Cola products to Mr. McCoy in Room 908. Thanks for your support!
