Dear Parents,
Please remember that Monday, November 1, is a school day for middle school.
Wow! What a great Red Ribbon week we’ve had here at DJAMS! We had many dress up days and lunch time activities that students participated in throughout the week. Special thanks go to Ms. Berndt, our PAL students, Mrs. Vollebregt, Mrs. Nasiri, and our awesome parent volunteers.
HELMET AND BICYCLE SAFETY ASSEMBLY ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2010
Crime Prevention Specialist, Margo Beauchamp, with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will give a presentation on helmet and bicycle safety. This assembly will take place throughout the day during English classes. Students will watch a video created by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department titled, “A Helmet is Cooler than a Coma!” followed by a question and answer session.
EIGHTH GRADE ADS – YEARBOOK
The Early Bird prices for Yearbook Ads ends on November 2. If you would like to purchase an ad for your eighth grade student, you can find the order form on Edline or you can email Stacey Olson at seolson@capousd.org. After November 2, the prices will increase.
WEIGHT TRAINING CLASS OFFERED
Students will have the opportunity to sign up for Mr. Binley’s last Weight Training class of the year! Class begins November 1 and ends December 17. This class is designed for all 7th and 8th graders interested in beginning weight training. Please contact Judd Binley if you have any questions regarding the class: jjbinley@capousd.org
DJAMS SERVICE AWARD BRONCO PRIDE
Many students have shown interest in DJAMS community service program, Bronco Pride. The awards will recognize both academic accomplishments as well as school and community service efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for your sons and daughters’ achievements to be recognized. We would hope that all parents encourage their sons/daughters to get involved in the “Bronco Pride” awards. Students are getting involved at school and community by adopting a planter, helping in the library, assisting teachers, and tutoring. If you have any questions or comments about the awards please contact Mrs.Balogh.

FOR WHAT: New equipment, maintenance and repair of the Fitness and Aerobic Centers facilities, awards, and enhancement of curriculum needs.
OUR GOALS: To offer the finest facilities possible to our physical education students at DJAMS. To continue to raise the fitness and wellness bar, by creating a community of well balanced children, both physically and mentally.
WHAT CAN PARTICIPANTS WIN: Gift cards, pumpkin pies, and a turkey dinner with all the fixings and other great prizes!
Permission slips/flyers are available in the front office.
RECYCLE EVERY WEDNESDAY
Help our school and help the environment! Bring your plastic bottles and cans to DJAMS every Wednesday morning. ASB will be out in front of the school to collect. Students who drop off a bag of recycling before school will receive a Front-of-the-Line Pass for lunch!
LEAVING CAMPUS EARLY
If your child needs to leave campus early due to an appointment or other reason, please remember to send him or her in with a note before school begins to the Attendance Office. We will issue a Special Excuse which will allow your child to leave class to meet you in the front office. Thanks!
FORGOTTEN ITEMS LEFT AT HOME
If your child has forgotten any items at home such as P.E. clothes, books, homework, lunch, or money, feel free to bring them in to the Attendance Office. We do have a message board there and students have been coached to check the message board throughout the day, if they have left anything at home. This will greatly reduce classroom interruptions.
