On Tuesday, March 2, we will be on a modified schedule with an extended testing block in the morning following homeroom. Students are expected to arrive at the regular 8:45 a.m. start time and will be dismissed at 3:25 p.m. During this time, 7th grade students will be taking the state mandated STAR Writing test, while 6th and 8th graders will be taking a school-wide Spring writing assessment . Please stress the importance of these tests which may determine your child’s placement for middle school and high school classes next year and help us to evaluate our academic programs. Students should remember to:
o Get a good night’s sleep
o Eat a healthy breakfast
o Be at school on time
o Bring a bottle of water and a silent reading book

8th GRADE READING PLACEMENT TEST

Wednesday, March 3, 2010 all 8th graders in Capistrano Unified School District will be given a reading assessment to determine placement in the 9th grade reading interventions program. The test is a 36 question multiple choice exam. It is imperative that all 8th graders take the test to provide correlation data for high school placement.
Please review with your child the importance of these standardized tests in terms of their impact for high school placement. We will be doing the same at school.

If you need to leave a message for your child, request an early out for appointments, or drop off any items, please call or visit the office and we will relay the message. Students are to be reminded that cell phone use is not permitted during school hours. Thank you.
