Background
Gene Bertoncini, from New York, has firmly established himself as one of the most eloquent and versatile masters of the guitar. Over the years, he has worked with singers like Tony Bennett, Lena Horne; the Metropolitan Opera orchestra; jazzmen Buddy Rich, Wayne Shorter; arranger/composers Burt Bacharach and countless others, always integrating his own spontaneous and tasteful improvisations. He performed regularly on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and is considered one of the most prolific and popular studio musicians in New York City. He has earned highest critical acclaim for his artistry on both the classical and electric guitar.
Bob Magnusson’s classical training and years as a busy Los Angeles studio player allow him to finesse any piece of music on sight. He can drive an up-tempo bebop tune, deliver a delicate bowed solo on a ballad or slip easily into a samba….His uniqueness is a startling mix of force and gentleness, a quiet attack that declares how fully the lower octaves can be lifted firmly to the framework.” Jim Merod, Jazz Now
