If your umbrella is up this week, your sprinkler system should be off
Lake Forest, CA – Given a weather forecast of moderate to heavy rain for the next seven days, El Toro Water District encourages customers to turn off their sprinkler systems for the week.
“Unfortunately it is rather common to see sprinklers running while it is raining,” shares Bob Hill, General Manager of El Toro Water District. “We want to do everything we can to encourage our customers to let Mother Nature take care of watering the lawn and other designated irrigation areas for the next week or so.”
Conservation specialists recommend that customers wait 2 to 3 days after the rain stops and do the “step test” to determine if irrigation is needed. To determine if your grass areas need to be watered, step on the surface and watch to see if the grass pops up or stays flat. If the grass pops, no additional irrigation is needed.
