Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge No. 2444 announced a donation of $1,000 to the Orange County Special Olympics by the Elks Orange Coast District.
The Elks Orange Coast District annually conducts two golf tournaments to raise money to support the Special Hoop Shoot which is part of the Special Olympics. These funds enable over 300 handicapped kids of all ages to participate in the Special Hoop Shoot. Each participant receives an Elks District T-shirt and a gold medal on a red, white and blue ribbon. The red, white and blue basketballs used in the hoop shoot are donated to the organizations that bring the kids to the competition.
Elks District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Ed Repic said, “Because of a very generous gift to the Special Hoop Shoot fund by Ray Estrella, Santa Ana Lodge Exalted Ruler, the Elks Orange Coast District is able to make an extra donation to the Orange County Special Olympics. In 2011, the ten lodges of the Elks Orange Coast District will strive to increase our contributions to the Special Olympics.”
