Mission Viejo, CA – Mission Viejo / Saddleback Valley Elks Lodge No. 2444 (“Elks Lodge”) is again sponsoring the “Most Valuable Student Scholarship” (“MVS”) Award contest. The 2012 contest is open to all seniors in the Saddleback Valley and Capistrano Valley School districts. The Elks National Foundation (“ENF”) has helped thousands of students who need financial assistance to fulfill their dreams of attending college.
MVS scholars are outstanding students who are at or near the top of their class, are active in school & community activities, and are recognized leaders among their peers. Any high school senior who is a U.S. citizen is eligible. Applications can be picked up at the Guidance Counselor Offices of each high school. Student applicants will be judged on scholarship, community service, leadership & financial need. For the 2011 year, three of the six of the Elks Lodge sponsored student finalists received national scholarship awards.
Nationally, the ENF provides more than $3.64 million in college scholarships each year through its three scholarship programs, of which MVS totals $2.296 million. All student applications are judged by the local Elks Lodges before reaching the ENF office. Interested students should contact their high school counselor for more information or the local Elks Lodge.
