FAMILY SERIES CONTINUES WITH THE JOSHUA SHOW: EPISODE 2

– Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ 2019 – 2020 Family Series continues with The Joshua Show: Episode 2 February 1 and 2 in Samueli Theater. Award-winning puppeteer and Ambassador of Joy Joshua Holden uses singing, tap dancing and a cast of zany puppets to thrill audiences of all ages in a whimsical production about friendship and the value of being yourself. Said The New York Times, “Mr. Holden has dedicated his shows to lightening the mood of all in the theater, puppets and humans alike.”

Audiences are encouraged to arrive one hour before the performance for free creative activities including decorating small tote bags filled with dental hygiene items (provided by the Center) to donate to foster youth or former foster youth through the Orangewood Foundation and decorating cards for other children who are hospitalized. The cards will be distributed to hospitals around the country through the organization Cards for Hospitalized Kids. There will also be a Joshua-themed photo opportunity where everyone will be an honorary Ambassador of Joy when they receive a special button!

The Center’s Education Department offers these enriching experiences to provide young people and their families with opportunities to play together creatively, explore the themes and content of the performances and connect with other patrons at the Center.

About The Joshua Show: Episode 2
Life got you down? Spend an hour with award-winning puppeteer, Joshua Holden. The Joshua Show: Episode 2 thrills audiences of all ages by celebrating individuality in ourselves and others, helping to combat the doldrums of everyday life. Joshua’s right-hand man and grumpiest of grumps, Mr. Nicholas, is planning an escape to outer space. With live music, singing, tap dancing, and a cast of zany puppets, Joshua sets out to convince Mr. Nicholas to stay, and in doing so, he brings glee to the masses. This whimsical production about friendship, confidence, and the value of being yourself is sure to turn even the sulkiest sourpuss into an “Ambassador of Joy.”

About Joshua Holden
Joshua Holden is an award-winning international puppeteer, actor, and joy-maker based in NYC and was named one of “20 Theatre Workers You should Know” by American Theatre Magazine. Joshua was on the Broadway national tour of Avenue Q, the Lead Puppeteer in Peter Pan 360 (ThreeSixty Entertainment), and garnered an Arts Impulse awards well as an IRNE nomination for “Best Actor In a Musical” as Bill Snibson in Me & My Girl (Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston). He worked with international street artist Banksy on his controversial piece Sirens of the Lambs. A proud Massachusetts native and an alumnus of the Walnut Hill School for the Arts, he earned a B.F.A. in Acting from The Chicago College of Performing Arts, Roosevelt University.
