Fashion Gets Re-Invented with an Artistic Twist at the 2016 Festival of Arts Runway Fashion Show

Date:

Fashion will enjoy a reinvention on Saturday, August 13 from 1 – 4pm when the crowd-awing Festival Runway Fashion Show returns to the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill fashion show. Just like TV’s Project Runway, see who’s “in” and who’s “out” this year as festival artists compete to create the most inspired couture using reclaimed, reused or recycled material.

The 2015 Festival Runway Fashion Show “People’s Choice Award” winner created by Festival artist Mariana Nelson

The show “where fashion meets art” is in its eighth year and offers cash prizes of $1,000 in four categories: Most Creative Concept, Most Exciting Ensemble, Most Innovative Use of Materials and Most Glamorous & Elegant “Red Carpet” worthy creation. There will also be a “People’s Choice Award” to be voted on at the event. Competing for the top prize are Festival exhibitors Hedy Buzan, Bradley Elsberry, Elizabeth McGhee, Adam Neeley, Mariana Nelson, Casey Parlette, Tashia Peterman, John Repka, Sahar Saljooghi, N.C. Swan and John Tolle.

The event will be hosted by actress Joely Fisher, best known for her roles on Ellen and ‘Til Death. Joely, the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Connie Stevens, has been nominated for a Golden Globe and made appearances in several television shows, movies and on Broadway. Selecting the winners will be a panel of judges including supermodel Kim Alexis. Kim has been featured in over 500 magazine covers, worked as a fashion correspondent on Good Morning America and appeared in countless commercials.
“Festival Runway Fashion one of the Festival’s most popular events of the summer,” said Susan Davis, director of special events for the Festival of Arts. “The artists put so much effort and ingenuity into crafting these stunning one-of-a-kind runway looks. It’s not to be missed!”
