August 14 at Festival of Arts from 12 – 1pm
“Art Talks” continue with a conversation led by Festival Artist Vinita Voogd. Vinita, a long-time exhibitor at the Festival of Arts, spent last summer in Venice as part of an artist residency program along with TeaYoun Kim-Kassor, Professor of Art at Georgia College and State University and Joe Lewis, Dean of Claire Trevor School of Art at University of California, Irvine. On Thursday August 14 from 12-1pm, they will join her to discuss their experience in Venice.
This Art Talk will feature a short introduction of the panel, if and how this affected their personal work, a short power point presentation, and a display of work created by the panel during their residency.
Venice Print Studio (VPS) is located on the island of Murano, District of Venice, Italy. The studio offers residencies to printmakers/artists worldwide offering use of studio space and equipment for intaglio, mono prints, woodcuts, collagraphs, silkscreen printing and more. VPS specializes in “large-format” printmaking with two considerably large custom-built presses. Additional smaller presses are also available to the resident artists.
Artists reside in nearby apartments, located in Murano and in Venice. They work on creating art in a new invigorating and energetic environment away from their personal studio/space, live like locals, create artwork, explore local culture, food and sights. Added bonuses are visits to the world famous “Venice Biennale”, learning about the glass studios in Murano and exploring the nearby islands of Burano, Torcello and Lido.
This is one of several topics discussed at the Festival’s weekly Art Talks: A Lecture Series. Each Thursday through August 28, Festival artists lead conversations about their medium, inspiration, and careers in this fascinating and stimulating series.
