The San Clemente Art Association kicks off its MAP (Military Artists Program) December 13 with an art demo by well known artist Rick Delanty. Held at the San Clemente Art Supplies store from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, 1531 N. El Camino Real, San Clemente, it is a free program to military artists and their spouses.
Artists don’t have to be good (or even artists!), they just have to be interested. Sponsored by SCAA, the San Clemente Sunrise Rotary Club, and San Clemente Art Supply, the new program includes presentations on art journaling, setting up a paint palette, bringing doodles to life, and more. Registration is through Sandy Beal: map_scaa@cox.net.
This first two-hour MAP demo will be on field sketching: the how-tos of drawing anything anywhere using a compact kit of materials. Work out your feelings of where you are and where you’ve been through simply presented techniques of on-site drawing. Rick will do a demonstration first, then work alongside MAP participants to show them how drawings can create memories that are just as meaningful as photographs.

Each military artist will receive art supply kits to get started drawing, free of charge. Other art supplies are being offered by San Clemente Art Supplies at substantial discounts for participating military members. SCAA Membership is also complimentary.
