LATE BREAKING NEWS: FISH Family Advent Event, THIS Sunday November 28th from 2 to 4 pm, please join your fellow F.I.S.H. Families in the Lower Hall for a memorable afternoon of music, story telling, tasty treats, and Manger-building crafts. This is a wonderful way to begin the Advent season while building friendships with other FISH families, not to mention getting to know and appreciate our new Children/Family Faith Formation Coordinator, Ali Gaby. $10.00 suggested donation per family. Registration information on the concierge shelves and Good Shepherd room.
New families are welcome too! If you have preschool and elementary aged children, join F.I.S.H. and get on board with other Corpus Christi families. FISH (Faith Initiative Starts at Home) offers family centered faith formation support and is a necessary component of Sacramental Preparation. Please contact Ali Gaby at aligaby@corpuschristialisoviejo.org or (949) 389-9209 to register.
With the holidays approaching, please consider trading in your cash or check for SCRIP. An easy dollar for dollar exchange, we make a small profit of a few pennies on each exchange, having bought the SCRIP at a small discount. You may also enroll your grocery affinity card or major credit card so that every time you use any of them, Corpus Christi is automatically credited for a small rebate. Each individual sale is pretty tiny, only a few cents…but multiplied by the thousands of parishioners at Corpus Christi, the potential is HUGE. Please give it a try….THANKS!
With great gratitude the parish says THANK YOU to the generous patrons who stepped forward and provided financial support so that ALL our turkeys could be purchased as well as attending to the festive celebration following our 9:00 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass by sponsoring our champagne. Thank you for your generosity and love of our Corpus Christi traditions!
Christmas TAMALES are coming….make your ADVANCE orders for easy pick-up!!
On December 18-19 our BOOTSTRAPS Ministry will be offering HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS TAMALES Red Chile Pork or Chile Verde Chicken, $20 per dozen, to benefit our JAMs/HAVEN Youth Outreaches. If you would like to PRE-ORDER a large amount (in one-dozen increments) and have them already packaged for pick-up, please complete one of the ADVANCE ORDER FORMS available on the Concierge Shelves. SNOW-HOPEFULLY in Idyllwild will be back again (hopefully without any broken bones this year!!!) on Wednesday December 29th…
Mark your calendars for our second Winter outing/opportunity similar to our Oak Glen Apple Orchard event…but this time, on Wednesday, December 29th, we will be heading up to Idyllwild for ‘SNOW-HOPEFULLY’. Knowing that a large number of families are on vacation between Christmas and New Year’s, SNOW-HOPEFULLY allows our Corpus Christi parishioners (and friends) an opportunity to head to our local mountains for a day of cold, fresh air, a friendly mountain town filled with assorted shops, an easy-to-find Regional Park with ample hills for sledding and snow-person building (and REAL snowball throwing.) To make it easy and comfortable we have rented the Parish Hall at the Idyllwild Community Presbyterian Church to host those who want to enjoy SNOW-HOPEFULLY. Modest mid-morning snacks and a light dinner will be provided and the Hall offers a warm, dry place in which to rest, dry off from your exertions…and perhaps most importantly…have bathrooms available (and it has a better kitchen and is closer to town than the Catholic Hall we used last year.) Be advised that each person/family will be responsible for their own adventure, transportation and their own equipment, there is no ski or professional sledding resort in Idyllwild….just lots of HOPEFULLY snow-covered hills! Cost will be the same as last year, $8 per adult and $6 per child (over 2 and under 12.) Registration forms will be available on the Concierge Shelves starting in December…but get the date on your family calendar NOW….Wednesday, December 29th, SNOW-HOPEFULLY in Idyllwild
A very special Second Collection to benefit both our OWN retired Diocesan Clergy of the Diocese of Orange, as well as contribute to the care of the retired RELIGIOUS of the United States will be accepted on the weekend of December 11-12, Gaudete Sunday (REJOICE!) Of particular interest here in the Diocese of Orange is the slow but steady development of a ‘retirement facility’ for our senior clergy, especially those with increased health-needs. This collection not only benefits the senior care of our OWN Diocesan priests but also contributes to the care of those elder Religious (men and women) who always presumed that there would be a fresh supply of religious vocations who would be generating financial income for the Orders. Across the board, most Religious Orders have experienced a severe decline…and thus the increased health concerns of their senior members is taxing some of them to the point of financial insolvency. As always your generosity is invited and envelopes will be on the chairs…with the basket on the altar at the end of Mass. Thanks.
Please note that Father Gerry Horan will be celebrating the 5:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday, December 11th.

Few enter into Thanksgiving Week the way Corpus Christi does…
THANKS and appreciation go out to Scotty Eisenbart for his oversight of our 12th Annual Parish Thanksgiving Dinner. People came, laughed, drank, ate, talked, drank and ate some more…the Grand Hall was filled with tables and then magically reassembled…55 turkeys were cooked, 30 gallons of gravy were served…and all in all…a wonderful event was added to our Corpus Christi tradition. Thank you to all who volunteered to cook birds, helped set-up, take-down, clean-up and generally allowed the event to be such a success!
2011 Corpus Christi Scholarship Applications now available…
If you are a graduating High School Senior who has been closely involved with HAVEN and participating with parish events, the Corpus Christi College Scholarship Application is now available on the Concierge Shelves for your consideration. It might not get you all the way through Harvard but it will pay for one year in fees and books at CSUF!
Our HANDS ACROSS THE COUNTY Ministry will be again be offering 65 families from St. Polycarp Parish for Christmas adoption. The ‘adoption’ of families takes place NEXT weekend Dec. 4-5 (and Dec. 11-12 if needed.) Gifts will be returned to Corpus Christi on the weekend of Dec. 18 – 19 and then the gifts will be delivered to St. Polycarp during the week of Dec. 19th.
On Wednesday, December 8th, we will honor the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary at a special 8:00 a.m. Mass. Frequently confused with the ‘virgin birth as foretold by the Annunciation’, the Immaculate Conception does not reference Jesus’ birth but rather MARY’S. It springs from a reasonable understanding by the faithful that God the Father would certainly go to great lengths in helping to prepare the ‘vessel through whom his son would be born.’ That ‘vessel’ was Mary and it is our understanding that God mysteriously was involved in her life from the first moments of HER conception. It is meant to be a reminder to us of God’s divine tinkering in our lives…even before we become fully aware of his presence.
Last weekend we provided you with the Parish Financial Statement for the recent Fiscal Year 2009-2010. Inserted into that statement was a Ralph’s and Vons Enrollment Form whereby you can enroll your Ralph’s Rewards or Vons Club Affinity Cards and provide Corpus Christi with a small rebate EVERY time you go shopping…AT NO COST TO YOU!!! Have you brought the form to Ralph’s with you yet?!?!? Have you filled out the information for VONs and returned it to us via the Offertory/Stewardship Collection yet? Known as ‘E-SCRIP’, this is a painless way to generate substantial revenue for our Corpus Christi Building Fund…without you having to do anything other than enroll your cards! Then, every time you swipe your Rewards or Club Card…Corpus Christi is credited with a small rebate. PLEASE…PLEASE enroll before all your holiday shopping! Thanks.
