Fun, freaky events on tap this season at the pool
The city is gearing up for a summer full of fun and unusual events at the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center, beginning with a 2-for-1 special on Memorial Day.
The Memorial Day celebration at 29 Santa Barbara is from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It includes 2-for-1 entry; and action-packed games and activities for all ages including water aerobics; sack and egg races; water polo scrimmage; hula hoop; arts and crafts; and live entertainment by local resident DJ Chill.
Seasonal and monthly passes are available for residents who want to enjoy the facilities often throughout the season, which runs through Sept. 30. The seasonal pass is $150 for adults and $90 for youth and seniors. The monthly pass is $50 for adults and $30 for youth and seniors. Toddlers under 2 years old get in free. The passes make great birthday, graduation and Father’s Day gifts, too.
Along with the perfect “in-town” holiday celebration on Monday, residents should make plans for a 2-for-1 Tuesday special on June 8. Current monthly and seasonal pass holders who drop by that day will also benefit by receiving a 20 percent discount off food at the Oasis Cafe. Entry to the facility is $5 for adults; $3 for youth and seniors. Non-residents pay $2 more.
In honor of Father’s Day on June 20, dads will get in free (with a paying family member) and can enjoy a low-cost burger meal, live music, father-and-child relay races, games and much more.
On July 4th, residents are invited to spend a day at the pool before the Aliso Viejo Community Association’s grand holiday fireworks celebration at Grand Park. The Aquatic Center will offer free games, hot dog meal deals, music and much more with admission.
Later that month, the Aquatic Center will host lunch with Olympic gold medal swimmers Kaitlyn Sandeno and Jason Lezak.
In August, the resort-style facility will host “Freaky Friday” on Aug. 13. Guests will enjoy free games, activities and entertainment and will be able to walk on water in a huge water bubble.
Plans are also underway for a “movie at the pool” night.
The Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center is located near Glenwood and Aliso Creek Road next to the Aliso Viejo Conference Center.
