GIFT WRAP AND MORE! The Great American Fundraiser has begun and we’re going APE! The PTA has voted to reduce the number of fundraisers this year, so there will be no Entertainment Book and no cookie dough sale. This Giftwrap sale has the potential to be fantastically successful! Please review the packet that went home with your child today. Inside you will find a coupon sheet. As your child sells items, complete and return the coupons to collect adorable monkey key chains. Coupon redemption days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday until September 27. Complete the “Reach Out” address book and turn it in on Tuesday, 9/17 before school for a special instant prize. Thank you for helping us reach our goals of providing science lab, Art Masters and other fantastic programs! If we sell $25,000, the students will be treated to an amazing magic show. Good luck!
K-1 SOCIAL: The Bergeson Foundation (BESF) would like to invite all K-1st Grade families to our annual K-1 Social. This year’s event will be held at “The Club” at Rancho Niguel (Moulton and Rancho Niguel Rd.)on Friday evening Sept 27th from 5:30-7:30pm. Please join us for complimentary dinner and drinks, games provided by the YMCA, and this year’s new addition of a mini Carnival and 50/50 Raffle. (Carnival and Raffle tickets will be available at event). Meet your child’s classmates and learn about BESF! Save the DATE!
REFLECTIONS ART CONTEST: Participate in PTA Reflections – create an original work! Theme: “Believe, Dream, Inspire”. Categories: Dance choreography, film production, literature, visual arts, photography and music composition. Deadline for entries: Monday, October 14. Information packets available in the office or visit: www.capta.org under “Programs,” click “Reflections.” For more information, contact Jessica Marucci at bergesonreflectionscontest@gmail.com
PAPER DRIVE: The deadline for our annual Paper Drive is Friday, 9/20 at 2:30 pm. As a tradition at Bergeson, we have a classroom competition to see which classroom can bring in the most copy paper at the beginning of school. The winning class gets to go on a walking field trip to have a free lunch at TGI Friday’s on Greenfield! Our generous families and this paper drive have helped us to save our instructional supply money for valuable materials for the classrooms instead of spending this funding on paper. Last year, we were able to make it all the way through March without purchasing boxes of copy paper! Keep your eyes out for the Back to School specials so that you can help your child’s classroom and help our school, too. Lastly, please put your teacher’s name on the paper and deliver to the MPR with our thanks!
RESERVED PARKING SPACES: Last year, two of our school-sponsored organizations auctioned off a total of 4 parking spaces during their silent auctions which raised money for our school. These 4 parking spaces are in the Y parking lot. Please honor these parking spaces and reserve them for the families who donated money to pay for them. We find all kinds of creative ways to fund programs for our kids!
THE PTA NEEDS YOU: The PTA still has a few openings for this school year. If you are interested in volunteering to help our school or getting more information about the following positions, please call or email Trina Jonas, (949)633-8150, trinajonas@gmail.com. We need help with: Adopt a Family, Fall Festival, Walk to School Day, Holiday Boutique, Dads and Donuts, and with our Marquee. Even if you work during the day, there are many things you can do to help with PTA. Please contact Trina if you are interested in helping out in anyway. Thank you!!
GIFT CARDS/SCRIP: Do you plan on going grocery shopping, gift buying, filling your gas tank or out for coffee? BESF provides Script Gift Cards! By purchasing gift cards before you shop you help your school raise funds for your favorite programs. Our school receives a small percentage back from every gift card that you buy. Stop by the office today to pick up a form or CLICK HERE to print.
HELP BERGESON EARN MONEY FROM TARGET BY VOTING FOR US Target is giving away up to $5 million dollars to schools ($10,000 max per school) in a program called “Give with Target.” All you have to do is Vote online, once per week at the following website: https://givewith.target.com/ – choose BERGESON as your school to support. We are currently at 100 votes = $100! Tell your family and friends and everyone on Facebook to vote for Bergeson School! Please hurry and vote – this opportunity ends September 21st, or when the $5 million is reached, whichever comes first. PS. Bergeson School is the leading school in Laguna Niguel right now!
FRIDAYS: Fridays are special for 3 reasons:
- Friday is Spirit-Day. Wear your Bergeson shirt or red, white and blue. We will do a Bergeson Best Drawing at our flag assembly every Friday, too.
- Footprint Friday: Please donate your CRV plastic bottles and aluminum cans out in the Y lot on Friday mornings before school. Children receive a Bergeson Best for donating.
- Bergeson Foundation (BESF) will be selling Mike’s Ice every Friday starting September 27. $3, $4, $5 depending on the size. 20% of the proceeds go to BESF.
PARKING LOT: Believe it or not, Bergeson has one of the largest elementary school parking lots in the school district and the most organized system of 5 drive-thru lanes. I know how frustrating the first week of school can be with lots of extra drivers in the parking lot, so please accept our apologies for the traffic. Please honor our Parking Lot Protocols so that we can keep all children safe:
- Only turn right when leaving the parking lot.
- Do not get out of your car in any of the 5 drive-thru lanes. If you’d like to get out of your car, park in a marked stall and walk.
- All children and adults cross in the crosswalks. Please do not cut through the drive-thru lanes. This is dangerous for our children so adults need to model this for children.
- No cell phones in the parking lot. All attention needs to be on the hundreds of children who are walking through the lot.
- Do not drive down the road toward the office, park on the red curb and please don’t park in the staff parking spaces near the office.
- Thank you for your help in keeping our children safe!
BERGESON DRESS CODE: The dress code is fairly simple but very important. We will call home for a change of clothes if a child comes to school without proper attire.
- Closed toed shoes with backs on them are required.
- Tank tops need to be at least two fingers wide.
- Shorts and skirts need to be long enough so that when hand is to the side with fingers pointed down, the shorts/skirt is the same or longer than the tips of the fingers.
- No inappropriate slogans on t-shirts, i.e. alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, etc.
GIRL SCOUT INFORMATION NIGHT: Is your daughter interested in becoming a Girl Scout? Come to our Parent Information night on Tuesday September 24th at 6:30pm, at Malcom Elem School, 32261 Charles Rd, Laguna Niguel. Bring your daughter for some fun crafts, while you learn more about Girl Scouting and how your daughter can join. Girl Scouts is for girls K through 12th grade.
