Holiday Homework For Tuesday, February 15th Event – Submit Your Imagination Machine Story Idea; They May Use it!

Date:

Imagination Machine is coming back to George White Elementary Feb. 15th.

Parents with students in grades 1-4 — Here’s a great holiday break activity!!!

The Imagination Machine performed for your students on Monday, November 29th and now, it’s up to our students to generate some fun, creative stories for the Imagination Machine to perform on their return trip to our school on Tuesday, February 15th. What a fun, rewarding experience to have your own story acted out live in front of you! (Note, all stories will be considered but the Imagination Machine will select those that will be performed.)

The parameters are wide open… Stories may be as short as one sentence or as long as two pages. Subject matter is up to your child, but the more creative and quirky, the better so let their imagination go! They can even work in pairs or small groups – so get a couple kids together and have some fun!

How do you get started?
One idea: follow the Who, What, Where? assembly format, helping them create character(s), setting and plot lines. For example, for setting: label three boxes/cups “time of day”, “location”, “weather”. Have them brainstorm by putting slips of paper into each category or box. Then they can draw from each box to create a setting for one story. Same idea can be applied to character, and plot lines.

Some key things to remember regarding your student’s story:
• Due Date is Thursday, January 6th – no exceptions!
• Stories should be submitted to your teacher
• Maximum length for stories is 2 pages
• Hand-written or typed are both fine – just make sure it’s legible
• Make sure each story is labeled with student’s full name, grade, and teacher
• Stories can be written by an individual, OR a collaboration of 2+ authors
• Please help us check for appropriate content (ie: no bathroom humor, excessive violence, etc.)
