Deputy Carlos Barcelos, a 14-year Sheriff’s veteran, was named Aliso Viejo Police Services’ 2012 Deputy of the Year. “What a dream come true and I have been living the dream ever since,” Deputy Barcelos said. “I remember watching ‘Chips’ growing up and always thought that would be the coolest job ever …” Deputy Barcelos’ is well-respected by people throughout the community and is known for being “professional” and “polite.” He is highly sought out amongst neighboring communities and schools for traffic enforcement. In January, he was selected as a motor instructor for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Barcelos lives in South Orange County and enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.
