“NIGHT OF A HUNDRED ANGELS” COMING TO LAGUNA BEACH
International Art Event to Benefit Local Wish Children
Whelan Galleries and The Cottage Gallery will host “Night of A Hundred Angels” benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Orange County and the Inland Empire in the world famous art community of Laguna Beach on Saturday, August 20, from 6 to 10p.m. Artists will be recognized and a representative from the Make-A-Wish Foundation will speak at The Cottage Gallery at 7p.m. Donations for the Foundation will be accepted at both galleries throughout the entire evening.
The “Night of A Hundred Angels” will be a celestial celebration of worldwide talent featuring an eclectic array of artwork in various media including painting, drawing, sculpture, crafts, jewelry and digital art. All ideologies dealing with the theme of angels will be represented.
Additionally, a “live angels” costume competition will begin around 8p.m. in downtown Laguna. “Angels” will show their costumes and will culminate in North Laguna at the sponsoring Whelan Galleries. Participants will vie for first, second and third place cash prizes.
The show will feature a diversity of viewpoints and approaches, ranging from traditional to contemporary and beyond. The goal of this presentation is to be both entertaining and inspirational, and to provide art lovers and collectors with a one-of-a-kind colorful, sensuous and riveting cornucopia of artistic treasures to enjoy.
This event is open to the public, and the artwork will be available to view for one month, closing September 20, 2011. Ten percent of net proceeds from the month-long affair will benefit the Make-A-Wish-Foundation. A special edition, full color “Night of a Hundred Angels” inspirational book showcasing the artists’ works will be published in the spring of 2012.
