About the Artist
John has lived in Dana Point, California since 1972. Over the past twenty five years he has painted contemporary abstract art using color as the principal design element. A wide variety of themes develop in the painting process, done primarily from intuition. His work appears in private collections throughout the United States, Western Europe and the Pacific.
John has participated in the Cove Gallery since 1998. He was an exhibiting artist and life member of the Dana Point Fine Art Association and named artist of the year 2000 at the Echoes and Vision Exhibition and was also featured in Watercolor Magic Magazine under “Artist to Watch. John held a solo show with Casa Romantica in San Clemente in 2014. He also does commissions for larger abstract works.
He majored in art in high school and his first year at UCLA, graduating with a BS in Business Administration. He earned an MBA from USC in Industrial Management. His continuing art studies include Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and Laguna Beach College of Art and Design. Over fourteen years, John attended the Intensive Studies Seminars on painting at Taos, New Mexico. He taught abstract and experimental painting in Capistrano Valley Adult Education.
In addition to painting, John writes poetry and continues to publish articles on a wide range of artistic topics. He is a board member for Art4Kids, an Orange County charity organization which distributes art materials to seriously ill children in Southern California hospitals.
