“Can-Do-Club” Parkinson’s Support Group
Hope to see you there!
The Parkinson’s Disease Support Group is designed to help patients, families and caregivers connect and come to a better understanding of the disease. These support groups also provide caregivers with the opportunity to discuss their questions and concerns with empathetic listeners who share their experience.
The Parkinson’s Support Group will meet Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Main Hospital Basement in Conference Room 1.
The group regularly meets the fourth Thursday of every month from 10- 11am but due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, we will be meeting on Tuesday, November 20th this month. Please make a note of the change.
Please join the Can-Do-Club on Tuesday, November 20th for a Lawn Bowling demonstration by Dee McSparran, a member of the National Lawn Bowling team.
Dee will share with us the basics of Lawn Bowling. Lawn Bowling is played by men and women of any age. The sport is often identified, like golf, a great form of exercise. Although lawn bowling is not your typical cardiovascular activity, bowlers nonetheless walk a mile, more or less, up and back during a conventional bowling match. The thought process in planning shots and preparation to roll each bowl, followed by the delivery, itself, employs considerable low-impact physical and mental exercise. Lawn bowling has been recommended for Parkinson’s patients as a positive aid to improving balance, mobility and flexibility of the muscles and joints.
