Grand Opening, Tree-Lighting Celebration and Festivities to Kick Off a Season of Community Outreach
Kaleidoscope will offer a new element of entertainment with the Grand Opening of its first eco-friendly ice-less skating rink on Saturday, November 26 at 11 a.m., with a Tree-Lighting Celebration and festivities to kick off the holiday season at 4 p.m.
Festivities will begin with Donna B’s Bakery of Laguna Niguel, offering a holiday cookie-decorating activity for $3 per cookie. Santa Claus will also make a special appearance. Ice’Kateers synchronized skaters will perform and Saddleback Valley Christian Schools (SVCS) Junior Glee Club, Honor Choir and High School Choir will entertain following the lighting of the holiday tree at 5:45 p.m.
SVCS will be the first of four local schools to perform at Kaleidoscope for the holiday season. Following them on consecutive Fridays in December will be Arroyo Vista Middle School (Dec. 2), Niguel Hills Middle School (Dec. 9), and Newhart Middle School (Dec. 16). As part of Kaleidoscope’s community outreach, these schools will be gifted with items from their “wish lists” of equipment for their music programs.
“Skating for Schools”, is another community outreach fundraising program created to give back to local schools. Students, faculty and their families can enjoy a specific evening of ice skating, where Kaleidoscope will give 30% of admission sales back to their school. This program will be offered Tuesdays-Thursdays and will be limited to one school per day. Schools must reserve their date.
Artificial Ice Events, the nation’s largest synthetic ice rental company, will install the ice-less rink, scheduled to operate through Valentine’s Day 2012. The plastic ice surface, which requires no water or refrigeration, is built around a new technology that closely resembles the skating experience of real ice. ”Its quick set up, low maintenance cost, and its ability to operate in any climate make it a real winner for holiday events, particularly in warm states,” says AJ Paradis, an ice technician for Artificial Ice Events.
The Eco-Friendly Ice-less Skating Rink and holiday festivities are part of a new special-events campaign, designed to bring energy and a positive fresh image to Kaleidoscope. “We are very excited about the events, entertainment, community outreach and new tenants that we are bringing to our unique, multi-level center,” said Janine Padia, Director of Sentinel Property Services. “We continue to make progress toward establishing Kaleidoscope as Southern California’s premier entertainment complex, and the best is yet to come.”
Kaleidoscope, located at 27741 Crown Valley Parkway, Mission Viejo, was purchased in June 2010 by Westport Capital Partners, LLC. Swensen’s Grill & Ice Cream scheduled to open this December and LA Fitness, scheduled to open in May 2012, are both currently under construction. Kaleidoscope is in the process of undergoing aesthetic improvements and enhancements including new landscape, furniture, fire pits, signage and more.
