MUSICAL THEATRE WEST PRESENTS

ONE-NIGHT-ONLY CONCERT VERSION OF “KISMET”

AS PART OF REINER READING SERIES

Paul Garman, Executive Director/Producer, is proud to announce a one-night-only concert version of the acclaimed, rarely produced musical KISMET, presented by Musical Theatre West at the University Theatre on the CSULB campus on Sunday, June 30 at 7pm.  KISMET is presented as part of the Reiner Reading Series, which presents concert-style versions of some of Broadway’s forgotten gems.

Your synopsis:

“Stranger in Paradise,” “Baubles, Bangles, and Beads,” and “Not Since Ninevah” grace the score of this Middle Eastern-flavored tale with music based on the scores of Borodin. Hajj, the beggar and poet, spins his rhymes in the court of the Wazir and catches the eye of the Wazir’s mistress, Lalume, while Hajj’s daughter Marsinah, unbeknownst to her, has turned the head of the young Caliph.
