Laguna Niguel Library Grand Re-Opening Celebration
Following much anticipation, the Laguna Niguel Library will host its Grand Reopening Celebration on August 19
th
. The public is invited to attend the festivities
which begins at 12 noon with the opening ceremony and will be followed by an
afternoon of fun-filled entertainment. Children can have fun at an origami craft
table while adults enjoy the sweet sounds of a string quartet or kick their heels to
the rhythm of a bluegrass band. The Friends of the Library and volunteers from
the National Charity League will be on-hand to serve light refreshments. The
library is located at 30341 Crown Valley Parkway, next to Laguna Niguel City Hall.
Since 2006, the City and County have been working together on the complete renovation and expansion of the
library. The $5 Million project is being jointly funded by the County and City and includes: a 4,000 square feet
expansion, new Friends of the Library bookstore, new community meeting room, additional computers and book
stacks/shelves to accommodate an expanded materials collection, and a total interior and exterior remodel.

Night Out (NNO) Celebration on Tuesday, August
7 from 4:00-8:00pm at Crown Valley
Community Park.
National Night Out will be celebrated by millions
of people throughout the country. It is designed
to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness,
generate support for, and participation in, local
anti-crime programs, and strengthen
neighborhood spirit and police-community
partnerships.
An array of booths will offer residents important safety information on home,
child, teen, senior, personal and animal safety. The event will also feature
information about emergency preparedness and drug and
alcohol abuse prevention programs.

The City of Laguna Niguel, in partnership with Laguna Niguel Police Services,
will host a free Document Shredding Event on:
Saturday, August 25, 2012
7:00 am – 12:00 pm (or until trucks reach capacity)
Laguna Niguel City Hall

This event will provide the public an opportunity to safely destroy confidential
documents that may contain vital personal, residential or financial
information. With identify theft and fraud being one of the fastest growing
crimes in America, now is the time to safely discard unwanted paperwork, including:
personal documents            old tax records
cancelled checks                  credit card offers & statements
billing statements                medical paperwork
paycheck stubs                     legal documents
Please remove notebooks, folders, binding clips, or any type of heavy metal clasp prior to submitting your items for
shredding. There is no need to remove staples or standard paper clips. Due to the capacity of the shredding trucks,
there will be a daily limit of 10 banker boxes, plastic bags, or paper bags, per car load. For more information, please

Meet Your Marines Car Wash – A Great Success
Over 60 of the City’s adopted Marines and Corpsmen traveled from
Camp Pendleton to Laguna Niguel to help wash cars at Plaza de La
Paz last Saturday. The car wash, hosted by the City’s Military
Support Committee, raised over $6,000. All proceeds will be used
to support the servicemen of the 1st Battalion, 4th Regiment, and
their families.
In the past, support has included sending CARE packages to the
deployed Marines, providing baby gifts to expectant mothers,
sponsoring welcome home receptions, and holiday parties.
On Saturday, August 25th, the public is invited to lend its support to the men and women serving onboard the City’s
adopted ship the USS McClusky, when the Military Support Committee will host a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Plaza de La Paz Shopping Center. Sailors from the ship will be on-hand along with various military displays.
