Lance E Nichols, lends his southern charm in the role of chauffeur Hoke Colburn in Driving Miss Daisy

Date:

The sunny coastal town of Laguna Beach and its trendy theater, The Laguna Playhouse, sets the stage for its current production of DRIVING MISS DAISY starring Lance E Nichols as the male lead of chauffeur, Hoke Colburn. Nichols plays alongside the female lead of elderly Jewish widow, Daisy Werth, being played by 4-time Emmy winner, Michael Learned. “Lance is simply brilliant. It’s a joy to work with such fine actor and friend”, said Michael Learned.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning story written by Alfred Uhry is being directed by Michael Bloom. You may recognize Mr. Bloom from his many broadcast production credits as the producer, director, or writer of four Osmond Christmas specials (most recently Donny and Marie Live from Las Vegas), Nashville Unplugged, The Story Behind the Song, and Bus Stops. He is also the owner and active participating member of Solaris Entertainment & Media staff. He oversees each division of his enterprise. With this type of work ethic, the production is set to be an overwhelming success under his excellent direction. “Lance Nichols is one of the most skillful and inventive actors I’ve ever worked with. Someone should put him in television comedy; his comic timing is flawless”, quoted Mr. Bloom.

This heart-warming stage play is a comedy-drama set in 1948 depicting the anti-Semitic and African American segregated south in Atlanta Georgia. These two unlikely souls, one an African American chauffeur and the other a 72-year old headstrong retired Jewish school teacher and widow, experience a true human understanding as they navigate the trials of the aged and come to depend on their unlikely friendship that extends into the years.

Lance is to be commended on a role well-played. His native New Orleans charm and veteran skills often have him in high demand. His most recent portrayal of the villainous Otis in the 2018 fall episode of The Purge gave homage to a whole new kind of “bad dude”. He was most notable in his starring role as Dentist Larry Williams in the critically acclaimed HBO series Treme and as The River King in USA’s Into the Badlands.

Mr. Nichols’ busy career will see him in a guest starring role in the upcoming Streaming Series production
called The Chosen, that depicts biblical times with modern language. The series began shooting in
Weatherford, Texas, just outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, back in December.

In between roles, Mr. Nichols and his wife, Zardis, manage their own production company Lanzardis
Productions, where they mentor young artists into the entertainment industry, as well as create award-winning
films. Their first TV pilot, Shepard, won Best Drama at the prestigious 2017 ITV Fest, where
Lance also took the home award for Best Male Actor in a Drama.
