It’s the Relief Society’s 172nd Birthday!!!

What is Relief Society? Relief Society is an organization of women who are members of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latterday Saints. Sometimes referred to as “Mormons”.

Relief Society is one of the oldest organizations of Women in the World.

The Relief Society was designed so that sisters could reach out, care and minister to each other and their families. At times when we are weak, others that are strong will step up and help. One of the hallmarks of R.S. is taking meals to sisters that need respite. There are so many acts of service given lovingly to those in need.

I love that we bond as women. We meet every Sunday to learn how we can become more like Christ.  We stand for strengthening the family. We increase in  personal faith in Jesus Christ, through serving others and our communities.

When we get together we use our talents and skills to teach each other. Some of the classes are; food preparation, sewing, personal finance, home beautification, and  how to help with each other’s burdens.

We  learn about food and water storage, and how to be prepared in case of a disaster. We learn how to be better women, daughters, mothers, wives, and sisters. Overall we learn to be just better people.

Through a Visiting Teaching net work, every sister in each congregation is visited  every month. Through this program, reports are sent to congregation leaders, letting them know of any pressing needs.

The Theme chosen this year for “ The 172nd Birthday Celebration” was “ A Spring Garden Party”.

Women from the Alicia Park Ward volunteered to provide and prepare food. Others brought their china and decorations. Each table had a theme and a hostess to preside over that table. We learned about each other though interactive games. Even the young women from the ward got involved. They came up with some fun table concepts.

Everyone had a wonderful time!
