Interactive Sessions by Museum of Making Music Inspire Home School Students
“The heart is the original drum that gives each of us natural musical ability. If your heart beats, you have rhythm!” – Sundiata Kata
CARLSBAD, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2009) – LEGOLAND® California is building on its education programs by offering unique, interactive drum circles sponsored by the Museum of Making Music on Monday, Nov. 2 between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Percussion specialist and Museum of Making Music partner Sundiata Kata is bringing his knowledge and enthusiasm to LEGOLAND with interactive drum circles designed to promote confidence, build team spirit, relieve stress, sharpen focus and be fun!
Kata is well known in San Diego for his inspirational method of teaching percussion to both children and adults. “We are excited to bring Kata’s knowledge and enthusiasm to our guests,” said LEGOLAND California’s Education Programs Manager Lynn Crockett. “We are always striving to find ways to educate our guests through interaction and fun and Kata is a perfect fit. Most Mondays during the traditional school year are Home School Days for us, so this is a great opportunity for home schooled students to see what kind of educational programs we offer here at LEGOLAND.”
Home school field trips feature special discounted admission, full-day Park admission for self-guided learning through play plus downloadable teacher guides. To register with the California Virtual Academy for Home School Days at LEGOLAND California Resort, log onto www.LEGOLAND.com/virtual.
Kata has dedicated his musical career to bringing joy and the magic of music to the community’s children, youth and adults and has developed percussion programs for companies, hospitals, hospices, after-school programs and service organizations.
Located across the street from LEGOLAND in Carlsbad, The Museum of Making Music explores the multifaceted history of the American music products industry from its beginnings in the 1890s to today and features a permanent collection of more than 500 instruments and rotating special exhibitions.
