Aliso Viejo offers fun all summer long

With the final stretch of summer kicking into high gear, now’s the time to take advantage

of all the fun that Aliso Viejo offers. Before you know it, the kids will be back in school

and those summer vacations will long be just a memory. But activity continues to boom

in the City of Aliso Viejo with Summer Camp, swimming, volunteer opportunities and

concerts and movies in the park.

Summer Camp at the Aliso Viejo Ranch continues through August 29 with campers

enjoying the rustic 7-acre ranch and tons of cool activities each week based upon

different themes. Sports, arts and crafts, hiking, archery, horseback riding, field trips

and much more are creating lasting memories for young campers. You can sign up for

a week or two and daily registration is available. Contact Camp Director Stacy Martin at

stacy@premierrecservices.com or visit www.premierrecservices.com for information.

Over at the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Center, the Flying Fish swim team continues to make a

splash and folks of all ages are enjoying recreational swimming and just relaxing by the

pool. If you haven’t been to our facility yet, you’ve got to check it out. The Aquatic

Center, which is flanked by the Aliso Viejo Conference Center and Aliso Viejo Country

Club, is a great place to spend the day, host a party or enroll your child in swim lessons.

Daily entry is $5 for adult residents and $3 for kids. Food and drinks are available for

purchase or you can pack a cooler with your family’s favorite eats.

If you are looking to have fun this summer while giving back, check out the hundreds of

volunteer opportunities available on the Aliso Viejo Exchange website. The website is

the “one-stop-shop” for connecting volunteers and organizations. You can learn about

volunteering for the upcoming American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Aliso Viejo

event August 10-11 at Grand Park or low-cost Pet & Vet clinic at Iglesia Park on August

3. You can be an usher at Soka University’s Performing Arts Center or serve as one of

our Police Assistance Liaison Services (PALS) volunteers. There’s opportunities for

folks to walk the homeless dogs at the Mission Viejo Animal Services Center or work in

the bookstore at the Aliso Viejo Library. The opportunities are plenty. Check out

www.alisoviejoexchange.com for details.

Of course, no summer in Aliso Viejo would be complete without the phenomenal

summer concerts and movies in the park hosted by the Aliso Viejo Community

Association. The association does a great job hosting these events, which feature some

really fabulous bands and top-notch family films. Hundreds of people gather at Grand

Park on select Friday and Sunday nights for music and movies under the stars. You can

grab your friends and neighbors, a picnic basket, blanket and chairs and enjoy a

spectacular free night. It doesn’t get much better than that. Visit AVCA’s website at

www.avca.net for more information.
