Musical Theatre West is offering students ages 8-18 a two week musical theatre conservatory taught by working theatre professionals in the month of July. Students will receive in-depth training in singing, dancing, and acting with an understanding and exposure to different genres of musical theatre and its history. The session will end with a performance showcase for parents and families on Friday, July 19th.
This two-week conservatory will take place July 8th – 19th, 2013 Monday through Fridays from 9:00AM to 12:00PM for 8-12 year olds and 12:30PM to 3:30PM for 13-18 year olds. The conservatory will be held at the Musical Theatre West offices, located at 4350 E 7th Street in Long Beach (across from Wilson High School, on the corner of 7th Street and Ximeno).
Musical Theatre West, with a rich tradition of producing the highest level of professional quality Broadway musical theatre in Southern California, has maintained an equally strong impact on the world of educational theatre through its Education and Outreach Program. Since its inception in 1991, the program has reached well over 100,000 local youth, exposing them to the magic of musical theatre through special daytime matinees and school tours.
Musical Theatre West will offer a Musical Theatre Intensive Conservatory designed to develop and hone skills necessary for future careers in professional musical theatre. Students, ages 8-18, will work with professionals in the areas of acting, voice and dance to expand their knowledge of the world of musical theatre and create the initial foundation for a strong audition package. By the completion of the conservatory, students will be equipped with a fully rehearsed audition solo and a wider understanding of how to navigate the professional field of musical theatre.
The conservatory will culminate in a showcase that will be performed at the Musical Theatre West offices on July 19th open to family and friends.
Tuition is $200.00 per student ages 8-12 and $250 per student ages 13-18.
