This week is Blue Ribbon Week: Anti-Bullying Week. The schedule is as follows:

Thursday: Unite With Your Friends and Bullying Will End: Show unity by dressing alike with your friends.

Friday: Be a Hero: Stand Up for Your Friends: Dress like a Super Hero!

Want to win a blue prize?

*Find a blue ribbon with an inspiring quote and bring it to the stage Tuesday through Thursday at lunch.

*Create an anti-bullying super power, write a paragraph about it, and bring it to the stage Friday at lunch. Don’t miss out on this one, there is an awesome grand prize!


Star Writing-

Newhart will be taking the 7th grade STAR Writing Test, 8th grade Reading Test and 6th grade Writing Prompt on Tuesday March 5th . Any students absent on the March 5th will be pulled to do make-up tests on the March 6th. Please note that the bell schedule has been changed for the day to accommodate the time needed to take the tests.

Parent Portal-

We are encouraging all parents who have not yet done so to register for a Parent Portal account as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the options available through this system. In the 2013-2014 school year, the Capistrano Unified School District will institute a paperless report card system. Capo Valley High School 8th Grade Expo-

Capistrano Valley High School will be having their 8th grade expo Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 from 8:30am – 10:30am at the CVHS campus.


Attention 8th Graders!

Anyone interested in trying out for the CVHS Cheer and Song teams should come to the mandatory parent meeting on March 5th in the small gym at 6:30 at CVHS. You will receive all the information you need on that night and will be able to see skills demonstrated by current cheerleaders and song leaders as well as ask questions. Also, please come to the 8th grade expo on Saturday March 2nd and come visit the Pep Team booth! We will be upstairs next to the guidance office. NEWHART PTA NEEDS YOUR HELP NEXT YEAR!

The Newhart PTA Nominating Committee is currently looking for individuals to get involved and to help serve the school for the 2013-14 school year. There are a number of PTA Executive Board positions available as well as various Committee roles that need filling. Whatever your strengths or passions, the Newhart PTA surely has a spot for you! From Earth Day and Parent Education programs to Book Faire and Assemblies, the PTA sponsors countless student enrichment programs wherein you can help make a difference. There are a variety of positions both in PTA Leadership and in Committees that require different levels of responsibilities and time commitments. You can help out a lot or help out a little – the choice is yours!

City of Mission Viejo Safety and Resource Fair-

The City is joining forces with Community Autism Now and Us Too Gymnastics to host the first safety and resource fair addressing developmental disabilities on Saturday, February 23.

USED MUSIC INSTRUMENTS-

Help me continue to help our schools by contributing to my “LET THE BEAT GO ON” project. I am collecting your old instruments and donating them to the CUSD music programs to help them meet the goal of providing free instruments for any student who wants to play a wind or string instrument. This will allow our music programs to grow and stay strong. I will pick up your old instruments from your home and donate them to the CUSD school of your choice.
