The Ducks are Here!

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 26th is our first duck day for our magazine and cookie dough fundraiser. Fill out your duck coupons, and don’t forget the parent signature because we won’t accept them without one, and turn them in for ducks. We will be collecting them before school (8:15) and at lunch. Our next duck day will be next Tuesday, October 1st, so continue to sell those magazines and cookie dough!

Friday is Spirit Day!-

This Friday is Newhart spirit wear for spirit day, wear your Newhart shirts, club shirts, or red and black, and come to the stage at lunch to enjoy some lunch time activities.

PTA’s PIE Fundraiser-

The Newhart PTA would like to thank all the families that donated so generously to our Partners in Education (PIE) fundraising campaign this year.  To date, we have raised $18,032  which will fund multiple Newhart technology initiatives and classroom instructional materials.   We are still short of our fundraising goal of $30,000.  If you have not yet made your contribution, we are still accepting donations. To achieve our goal, we have asked for a donation of $100 per student but please know that any donation will be greatly appreciated.

If you have made a donation, we urge you to check with your employer to see if they offer a matching donation program for nonprofit organizations.  Many companies (e.g., Boeing, Disney, BP, Microsoft, Exxon, GE to name a few) do offer such a benefit – so please check with your employer for opportunities to leverage your donations.

Also, the PTA wants to congratulate the winners of our PIE opportunity drawing; Kim Bache, winner of the Disneyland Park Hopper tickets and Yvonne Stevens, winner of the Chromebook.

Finally, please join us at the next PTA meeting on October 10th when members will be discussing options for investing these funds in technologies to complement the wireless infrastructure and to approve classroom grants requests.

Important reminder about arriving at school early-

Newhart Middle School does not open for students until 8:15am Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and 9:15am Wednesdays.  Students are not to arrive on campus earlier than this.  Please do not drop off students before these times, there is no supervision available.

Drop off & Pick up-

Please remember when dropping off and picking up your students from Newhart to follow all posted traffic signs on La Paz and Veterans Way. There are often sheriff officers out giving tickets for those who do not.  When entering the Newhart parking lot from Veterans Way please do not block the driveway or double park on Veterans Way.  Please follow all one way arrows and stay with the flow of traffic.  We want all students and parents to be safe so please be considerate.  A traffic flow map of the parking lot is available on the schools website.

Newhart PAL Recycling-

Please support our school by bringing your cans and bottles to Newhart for recycling on Friday mornings.  PAL students will be outside to collect cans and bottles before school so you don’t even have to get out of your car!  Every bottle or can helps!  Thank you for your support.  Go Panthers!
