TESTING ON TUESDAY, MARCH 2ND
This is just a reminder that this coming Tuesday, Niguel Hills will have a modified schedule, within the school day, to allow for a 75 minute block of testing. Each grade level will be assessed in a different manner, all are important. School start time and end time will remain: 8:45 – 3:25.
8th GRADE READING PLACEMENT TEST
All 8th grade students in Capistrano Unified School District will be given an assessment to determine placement in the 9th grade reading interventions programs. It is imperative that all 8th grade students take the test to provide correlation data for highs school placement.
7th GRADE STAR WRITING EXAM
This is the same day that the 7th grade students, statewide, will be taking the STAR writing assessment. This writing exam score will be combined with the English Language Arts portion of the STAR exam they will take in May.
6th GRADE PRACTICE WRITING EXAM
In preparation for the 7th grade STAR Writing Exam, our 6th grade students will take a practice exam that mirrors the format of the 7th grade exam. This is excellent practice for your child’s skills in on-demand writing.
Please review with your child the importance of these standardized tests in terms of their impact for high school placement. We will be doing the same at school.

PAPER DONATIONS WELCOME!
This year with budget cuts and money being tight, our supply budget will most likely run out before the end of the year. Because of this, NHMS will most likely be short on copy paper. Any donations of copy paper (even just a ream) would be welcome and much appreciated! You can donate to your child’s teacher or to the office…it will all be put to good use. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give us in this area.
MARQUEE BIRTHDAY WISH
Parents:
You now have the opportunity to place your child’s birthday message on the marquee for one day while helping our Associated Student Body raise funds for student needs and activities throughout the school year. The cost is only $20.00 to make your child’s birthday extra special. Space is limited – the message will read: “Happy Birthday (first name, last name)”, or simply the first name if preferred. You may download a Marquee Birthday Wish form to fill out from our school loop page, or pick one up in the front office. Please return the bottom portion of the form to the office with a $20.00 check (per child) payable to NHMS ASB.

Principal
