Interactive Exhibit Features Reveals the Truth about Creatures of the Deep
– Did you know that sharks can go through as many as 30,000 teeth in one lifetime? Or that sharks have been around for more than 400 million years? And that you have a better chance of winning the lottery than of being bit by a shark? These are just some of the to discover in Sharks Revealed, the newest exhibit at SEA LIFE™ Aquarium which is located right next to LEGOLAND® California in Carlsbad.
Sharks Revealed is designed to be a child’s introduction into the lifecycle and evolution of sharks. The interactive exhibit features more than 40 baby sharks and shows their development from egg to adult. The exhibit also features a graphic timeline showing the evolution of sharks; a replica of the jaws of a megaladon, the giant ancient ancestor of the great white; an interactive “shark lab” where guests can get hands-on experience with shark teeth, jaws and other artifacts; and a large-scale model of a “mermaid’s purse” for a fun photo opportunity.
The SEA LIFE Aquarium in Carlsbad already has more sharks than any of the other 29 SEA LIFE Centers world-wide including black tip reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, zebra sharks, leopard sharks, epaulettes, Port Jackson sharks and the rare grey reef sharks. Several new species are part of Sharks Revealed including the brown banded bamboo shark, the white spotted bamboo shark and the coral catshark.
