On Monday,December 20, firefighters from the Laguna Beach Fire Department (LBFD) and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) demonstrated newly acquired rescue equipment that was received via a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
The $156,257 grant was used to purchase newly updated patient extrication equipment for use by both fire agencies. This equipment is used to extricate or remove patients trapped in their vehicles following a traffic collision. Firefighters from both agencies conducted a training event that showed the media how this equipment is used in an emergency on real cars.
