The Ocean Institute will join in the celebration of the 4th Underwater Parks Day on Saturday, January 21, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The day is a coordinated event by marine science centers throughout Southern California to educate the public about the statewide network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and explain the need for these “underwater parks.”
Staff at the Ocean Institute, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro, Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Birch Aquarium/Museum at Scripps in La Jolla, and other local partners will celebrate recreation and conservation along Southern California’s coast. Visitors will learn more about MPAs by finding out about their benefits and exploring ocean sustainability through fun activities and games. Cost included in the price of admission.
