Spirit of Dana Point
The Ocean Institute is pleased to offer a Stargazing and Sailing Parent-Child overnight adventure beginning Saturday, April 17, 5:30 p.m. and ending at 12:30 p.m. the following day. Children must be a minimum age of 8, and be accompanied by an adult.
In the evening, participants will explore the night sky with JPL scientist Ron Buning and other local astronomers at the Lazy W Ranch Campground, located in the Cleveland National Forest. Learn how sailors used stars to sail the seas, discover constellations using telescopes, and play a campfire solar system game. In the morning, participants will travel to the Ocean Institute for a sail aboard the Spirit of Dana Point where they will take part in the ancient art of maritime navigation.
