Olympica Gymnasts Earned State Titles and Numerous Medals at Southern California Championships
Olympica Gymnastics Level 4 team concluded their compulsory season and competed at the Southern California State Championships this past weekend in San Marcos. Nine-year-old Sasha PourTeimour of Mission Viejo was the Level 4 All Around State Champion, earning a 38.100. She was also the floor champion with a score of 9.825. Sasha took home the silver medal on beam (9.550) and bars (9.675), and placed sixth on vault, scoring a 9.050. San Clemente’s Mia Gwin scored a 9.500 on floor for the bronze in her nine-year-old division. Emmy Brian of Laguna Niguel also earned a medal on beam, scoring a 9.350.
Ten-year-old Reese Larson of Aliso Viejo had a gold medal routine and earned the Level 4 State Bar Champion title, scoring a 9.825. Additionally, she earned silver medals in the All Around with an impressive 38.500, on vault with a 9.425, and on floor with a 9.625. Scoring a 9.625, Reese also placed fourth on beam. Adison Rusin of Laguna Niguel earned fifth place on vault with a score of 9.100 and a medal on bars where she scored a 9.375 in her ten-year-old division. Olive Zimmerman of Laguna Niguel scored a 9.300 on beam and earned a medal as well.
Olympica’s eight-year-olds also brought home some hardware. Teagan Blandford of San Clemente earned the bronze on bars with her 9.725 performance, and Ladera Ranch resident, Malia Tiengtum, earned a 9.650 on beam to take home the bronze as well. Teagan Blandford also earned an All Around medal in her division with a 37.425, and took home medals for her vault, beam, and floor routines. Emmerson Gerhart of Mission Viejo earned a medal for her bar routine with her score of a 9.475.
These ladies trained hard all season, and their perseverance, hard work, and determination is to be commended. Congratulations to all of the gymnasts and their coaches!
