Olympica Gymnastics Academy’s competitive team traveled to Park City, Utah this past weekend to participate in the 2020 Black Diamond Winter Classic. Several gymnasts brought home top awards.
The Level 7 team won the third place team award, led by Kylie Phillips of Laguna Niguel who earned the silver on vault (9.250) and the bronze on bars (9.375) and beam (9.525) in the junior division. Teammate Addison Malue (Mission Viejo) earned the silver on vault scoring a 9.525. San Clemente’s Madelyn Snedeker earned 9.400 and the bronze on beam in the child division.
Samantha Hayes of Ladera Ranch took the silver medal on bars in the Level 8 child division with her score of 9.650. Aliso Viejo resident, Holly Carter, earned the bronze for her bar routine, scoring a 9.300 in the junior division.
Level 9 gymnast, Katya Kousakin of San Juan Capistrano, was the vault champion, scoring an impressive 9.675 in the child division. Teammate Kaitlyn Driessen of Rancho Mission Viejo earned the bronze on vault (9.400). In the Level 9 junior division, Allison Karner of Laguna Niguel was the bars champion, earning a 9.350. She also earned the silver medal on beam (9.250) and the silver in the All Around (36.800). Scoring a 9.300, Sarah Quan of Ladera Ranch took home the silver for her floor exercise routine.
