EMPOWERING PARENTS, TRANSFORMING TEENS: The tougher it gets to be a kid…the tougher it gets to be a parent! It’s time to find help and support. The Parent Project® can change your life! An award-winning program presented by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Parent Project® provides proven strategies for raising today’s adolescents. Topics include defiant behavior, accountability and consequences, parental influence vs. control, poor school performance, truancy, negative peer associations, drugs, alcohol, running away and violence.
Dates: January 21 – March 25, 2009 (Thursdays)
Time: 6:30 – 9:30 pm (First 6 weeks) 6:30- 8:30 pm (Last 4 weeks)
Location: San Clemente High School Library, 700 Avenida Pico
Fee: $60 (couple or single parent) includes 10 classes and parent manual. Scholarships are available.

CLOSETS FOR CAPO: Do you have clothes, shoes, backpacks, and handbags that you no longer use and are taking up closet space? Wouldn’t it be great if you could donate them AND raise money for CUSD at the same time? You can! A pick-up date is scheduled for April 29, 2010. If you’re interested in volunteering to coordinate this program for your school, contact Linda Wright, Executive Director of the CUSD Foundation at linda@cusdfoundation.org.
OPEN ENROLLMENT/SCHOOL OF CHOICE NEWS: The 2010/11 Open Enrollment application will be posted on the CUSD website at http://capousd.ca.schoolloop.com/oe by February 1, 2010. Tour dates for schools with openings will occur during the month of February. Families will be directed to the school site to schedule an appointment. Applications will be submitted to the school of choice or the district office February 1-26, 2010 and parent notification will occur by April 9, 2010.
