Presentation will focus on dangers of prescription drug abuse |
|
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Aliso Viejo Police Services on Wednesday, April 25 will host “Prescription Drug Abuse-How This Affects South Orange County Families Today!” at Aliso Viejo City Hall, 12 Journey. During the one-hour presentation, which starts at 7 p.m., Deputy Darren Braham and Crime Prevention Specialist Margo Beauchamp will discuss the dangers of prescription drug abuse and what the public, including parents and guardians, can do to safeguard their families from these dangers. The Partnership at DrugFree.org reports that nearly one in five teens has taken a prescription medication to get high, without having his or her own prescription. In fact, every day 2,500 teenagers use a prescription drug to get high for the first time. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation, which is free.
