With all the news from Syria recently, it’s interesting to note that Pacific Symphony Music Director Carl St.Clair was just in Damascus on a cultural diplomacy trip along with Pacific Symphony Board member, Hazem Chehabi, who is helping to facilitate a cultural exchange with the Syrian National Orchestra. St.Clair is the first American to lead the orchestra in concert. His visit completes a cultural exchange that began in 2009 when the Syrian musicians came to Orange County to play with Pacific Symphony. St.Clair reports that, “It was an amazing and rewarding experience.”
