FAVORITE FAIRYTALE COMES TO LIFE WHEN PACIFIC SYMPHONY’S FAMILY MUSICAL MORNINGS PRESENTS TCHAIKOVSKY’S
“SLEEPING BEAUTY,” FEATURING ORANGE COUNTY BALLET THEATRE
Musical Carnival includes a performance by the Pacific Harp Ensemble and
a spotlight on dance including a Ballet Museum
Orange County, Calif.—April 14, 2011—Get swept away by the enchanting melodies of one of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved ballets—“Sleeping Beauty”—
as Pacific Symphony welcomes the talented dancers of Orange County Ballet Theatre (OCBT) for the final Family Musical Mornings concert of the season. Led by Assistant Conductor Maxim Eshkenazy, this charming fairytale comes to life vividly through music and movement to tell the story of Princess Aurora, who is cursed into a slumber for 100 years by the wicked fairy Carabosse—until a handsome prince awakens her with a kiss!
With music that children may recognize from the Walt Disney film adaptation, including the song “Once Upon a Dream,” this 45-minute performance is designed to help children (especially those ages 5-11) find a connection between music, dance and storytelling.
Narrated by Andreas Kraemer, who returns after his debut performance as Igor in the Symphony’s “Halloween Goes Hollywood,” the concert concludes with the upbeat “Mambo” from “West Side Story” to send the audience out dancing.
Taking place Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, the Musical Carnival features a spotlight on dance before and after the concert (more details below). Tickets are $29-46; for more information or to purchase tickets call (714) 755-5799 or visit www.PacificSymphony.org. Family Musical Mornings concerts are presented by Farmers and Merchants Bank.
