The Friends of the Mission Viejo Library and A Whale of a Tale Bookshoppe are joining forces to bring the amazingly popular and funny children’s authors Mac Barnett and Jory John to Mission Viejo on Thursday, January 22.
The dynamic duo will entertain kids and adults alike when they present their new release “The Terrible Two” – illustrated by Kevin Cornell – at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Saddleback Room at 200 Civic Center.
Mac Barnett is a New York Times bestselling author of many books for children including “Extra Yarn,” which won a Caldecott Honor and the Boston Globe–Horn Book Award for Excellence in Picture Books. He’s also authored with John Scieszka “Battle Bunny,” the New York Times bestselling picture book as well as “Dave and Sam Dig a Hole.” For middle graders, he’s written the “Brixton Brothers” series of mystery novels.
Jory John is a writer, editor and journalist. He is the co-author of the bestselling “All My Friends Are Dead” and editor of “Thanks and Have Fun Running the Country: Kids’ Letters to President Obama.”
In “The Terrible Two,” John and Barnett have walked an impressive tightrope: They’ve created a series that has its roots in classic middle-grade literature yet feels fresh and daring at the same time.
