Pete Truxaw, founder and owner of Mama’s on 39 in Huntington Beach and Mama’s Comfort Food & Cocktails in Los Alamitos, has opened his third Mama’s eatery in Newport Beach. The casual restaurant and bar offers unique comfort foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner with nostalgic Thrifty ice cream served by the scoop.

After a three-month renovation of the former Pizza Nova/Josh Slocums restaurant located along Newport’s Mariner’s Mile at 2601 West Coast Highway, Truxaw and partner Robert Corrigan opened Mama’s doors this weekend to faithful patrons and Newport Beach locals alike. Perched on the water with spectacular views of Newport Harbor, Mama’s boasts 250 feet of exclusive docks readily available for guests who venture to the restaurant by boat. Mama’s offers “dock-and-dine” daily.
“We are thrilled to bring Mama’s to such a historic Newport Beach restaurant location,” said Truxaw. “Offering daily brunch, lunch, and dinner right on the water gives us the unique opportunity to share some amazing comfort food and a little Mama’s love to our friends in Newport Beach and surrounding local communities.”

The restaurant’s interior decor features bright, beach-style colors, exposed brick walls and Mama’s iconic Photo Wall with hundreds of candid photos of local moms. A horseshoe-style bar with well-positioned TVs is a perfect setting for gazing out the expansive windows at the bay while catching up on live sporting events.
A renovated entry patio offers al-fresco dining for parties large and small. Truxaw founded Mama’s on 39 in Huntington Beach in 2011. The highly popular comfort food restaurant expanded to a second location in Los Alamitos last June. The name was changed to Mama’s Comfort Food & Cocktails with an eye towards local expansion. The restaurant opens daily at 8:30 a.m. and offers brunch all day seven days a week. The eatery features extraordinary daily food and cocktail specials.
