Hello Everyone, I am looking for participants to be included in my dissertation research. The participants for the study will be the significant others of women who experienced postpartum depression (PPD).
The men included in the study must have been in a relationship and cohabiting with the mothers at the time Postpartum Depression was experienced. I will conduct an interview that will last no longer 2 hours with the father’s. The names of the participants will remain confidential.
The study seeks to not only help clinicians in the systemic treatment approach of PPD, but to also better identify the specific need of the fathers.
Research is finding that fathers are also effected by depression (11%) and this number increases when their significant other has PPD. It is very clear that the entire family is affected by this diagnosis and the father of the child is often overlooked as needing support as well. If you know anyone that may be interested in volunteering for my study, please let me know. I expect to commence the interviews in July. I need your help!
This is a topic that is very close to my heart and one that I feel needs a lot of attention for parents, family members of those affected, and clinicians alike.
This is only the beginning of my endeavor to shed more light on this phenomenon. If you know anyone in need of treatment for PPD or any other issue, I have attached my business card. For anyone outside of the Southern California area, I can assist you along with Postpartum Support International (PSI) (Postpartum.net) to find the help you need. Thank You,
Kanita Allen
