Community Classes and Events

Family Music

Through activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement, your child’s musical aptitude and listening abilities are enhanced and further developed. This program caters to age 15 months to 3 1/2 years and takes place in three different sessions from June 1-22 and August 3-24. Baby Boot Camp

Classes are packed with cardiovascular interval drills, circuit training and strength exercises. This is a total-body workout you can do with the comfort of your child safely in the stroller next to you. All fitness levels are welcome. The program takes place in June, July and August. NEW! Summer Strummers – Beginning Ukulele

Have fun while learning easy strums, chords and songs. Bring a ukulele, electronic (clip-tuner) and music stand. No prior experience is necessary. The class, which caters to age 18 and older, takes place in two sessions: June 8-29 and July 13-August 3. Pet Portraits

Learn how to paint a portrait of your beloved pet using watercolor. Bring a 5×7 headshot to this class that takes place each Thursday at 10 a.m. June 11 through July 16. Fine Arts: Painting

If you’ve ever wanted to learn to work with oil, acrylic or watercolor, now’s your chance.  In this class, all techniques of fine art painting are taught and all levels are welcome. The class is open to people 18 and older and takes place on Monday in two sessions from June 15 to July 6 and July 13 to August 3.  Cost is $25 per session. Zumba

Zumba features exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! All fitness levels are welcome. The program takes place in three sessions: June 16 to July 14; July 21 to August 18; and August 25 to September 22.  Cost is $12 per class or $50 per session. Seniors receive a 10% discount. NEW! Benefits of Juicing

Many people have misconceptions about juicing. In this class, you will learn the benefits of juicing and the vitamins and nutrients you can obtain. Sample juices are provided. The programs take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. on June 27 and August 29. Cost is $20 plus a $5 lab fee payable to instructor. Chair Yoga

Students will receive the health and fitness benefits of yoga while sitting on a chair, improving their flexibility and strength, reducing stress and feeling renewed. The program takes place in two sessions June 2-30 and July 7 to August 4. Cost is $12 per class or $50 for five classes. In honor of the “Parks Make Life Better” campaign, the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center is celebrating its pristine surroundings with a host of programs this summer. Make it your mission to enjoy this jewel during the summer. Play in the park for fun and prizes.

Healthy Living with Chronic Disease

Take control of your life in this free program that will help you to live and eat healthier; improve communication with doctors; deal with depression; set an exercise plan; problem solve; and make positive changes. Stem Cell Therapy

Natural History Workshops

Annual Operation Baby Love Shower

This shower includes lunch, socializing, a display and program for the folks who have created hand-knitted/crocheted items for needy children in the community and those supporting this community service. Bring an unwrapped item for a newborn baby or handmade yarn creation to the annual event at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24. This event is sponsored by the Saddleback Valley Assistance League. Maximize Cell Phone Use

In the “Maximize Cell Phone Use” class, you will learn what your phone can do: calendar, Internet, YouTube, news, search topics, Skype and more. 20th Century World History Club

Join weekly interactive discussion led by Tesoro High school students Ryan Fabre and Elijah Gonzalez focused on World War II and the Cold War. Share your life experiences between 1939 and 1991. Migraine Headaches & Stroke

If you suffer from migraines, learning about the relationship between migraines and stroke can benefit you. Getting a correct diagnosis is essential along with living a healthy lifestyle.
