
San Juan Capistrano, Calif. – The San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association will present its annual Kids Pet Parade on Sunday, February 24 for the first time at Zoomars Petting Zoo with the parade taking place along Los Rios Street. (Rain date is Sunday, March 3). Children of all ages can enter the parade and contests including Best Team Costume (owner and pet), Best Domestic/Household Pet, Best Small Barnyard/Farm Animal, Best Exotic Pet and Best Bird. All pets must be leashed, haltered or caged during the entire event.

The top award, the “Judges Choice” winner, will be featured in the 55th Swallows Day Parade on Saturday, March 23.
Registration for the Kids Pet Parade begins at 9:00 a.m. and the judging and parade starts at 10:00 a.m. A $3.00 entry fee is required and includes up to two categories (one must be best team costume if selecting two categories). The entry fee also includes two entries into Zoomars Petting Zoo that day along with a coupon for a free hot dog at Mission Grill.

Fiesta de las Golondrinas, meaning Festival of the Swallows, activities pay tribute to the annual return of the swallows and San Juan Capistrano’s Spanish and western heritage. The 2013 Swallows Day Parade, themed “Happy Trails,” is one of the nation’s largest non-motorized parades and draws worldwide interest.
